Barcelona dismisses Rocket League Team
Barcelona is one of the most successful sports clubs worldwide. The Rocket League eSports should have been another part of the club. But the project has now been cancelled after only one year.
The FC Barcelona and their Rocket-League team are going separate ways.
After only a bit more than one year, Barca eSports, with their players David "Deevo" Morrow, Aldin "Ronaky" Hodzic und Amine "itachi" Benayachi is leaving the competitive Rocket League stage. The management of FC Barcelona seems to have made the call to let Barca eSports go.
So former coach Germán "El General" Micciullo said it was not the players' intention, himself or Barcelona’s eSports division, to end the Rocket League branch. Instead, the decision to stop the Rocket League engagement has been made by the big football club's management, declared Micciullo.
Decent but never at the top
Why this sudden decision to leave the Rocket League competition has been made can just be speculated.
The best guess would be that the team was not successful enough. Barca was always a decent team but never made the big score. In the recent European RLCS Season X Fall: Major Barca managed to join the quarters but failed to defeat the later champion BDS.
After the withdrawal from Rocket League, the eSports division of FC Barcelona keeps the Pro-Evolution-Soccer team representing the worldwide known brand in the digital sport.
