You can't get any closer to analog football than that.
Today we would like to introduce you to the Pro Clubs department of the traditional club Alemannia Aachen. We talked to the head of the department and striker Gregor Forst.
It is also with great pleasure that we welcome Alemannia as part of the FIFA Pro Clubs EU Masters, tonight 19:30.
Hey Gregor. You are head of department and player at Alemannia Aachen eSports. Can you briefly introduce your team?
I play in the first (regional) team at Alemannia. Here we have 4 spots for national players and at least 80% are from the region (Aachen +100 km). The same applies to our second (regional) team. So that also the many supraregional players (fans) get a chance with us, we have founded our Germany 1 (GER1) team a few months ago.
In which leagues are you represented?
Our 1st: NGL Premiership, European Premier
Our 2nd: Pro League 4D and VPL 2A
Our GER1: VPG 5A
How satisfied are you with the current season?
Our 1st team had a big upheaval just before the season. 6-7 regular players decided to start their own club (which has been dissolved in the meantime). We had only a very short time to react. As fans of Alemannia we are crisis-tested and made the best of it. We brought up players from the second team and got one or the other reinforcement during the season.
We focus on the last game of the season to move up to 9th place. Then we will play in the relegation for the class preservation in the best of 3 against the 10th of the division Blue (NGL Premiership). I'm sure our team can do it.
What are the strengths of your team?
The unity of the team. One fights for the other. Old Tivoli virtues that we have transferred from the green lawn to the digital lawn.
In many countries the Pro Clubs mode is still underrepresented. You come from Germany. How do you see the situation around the Pro Clubs mode in your country?
We see it exactly the same way.
A lot of FIFA players are using the FUT mode. The Pro Clubs mode is not so well known yet. How did you find out about the Pro Clubs mode?
The 1 vs 1 is not a team sport. It's more like tennis, where 2 players play against each other. And also the team modes (1 vs. 1), which are organized, are more similar to team competitions in chess, where 4 single players of one club play against 4 single players of the other club.
What fascinates you about this mode?
Pro Club is a real e-team sport. You have to work together just like the footballers on the pitch. You can't get any closer to analogue football than that.
Do you have any ideas on how the Pro Clubs mode can get more recognition?
I think the DFB and its regional associations should focus on this. As I said, you can't get any closer to what happens on the green pitch. And that would be a wonderful digital addition in the football clubs. The values that amateur football wants to convey can also be lived here in the digital world. With Pro Club and analogue football, a wonderful symbiosis could take place.
Now, for the first time, the Pro Clubs mode gets the chance to present itself on the stage of the biggest sports fair in the world. You, from Alemannia Aachen eSports have decided to participate in the tournament. Why do you take part in the FIFA Pro Clubs EU Masters 2021?
Since the foundation of our eSports department, Pro Club has always been our number one game, where most of our department members play. Of course we don't want to miss out on such an event.
Finally, can you tell us what your goal is for the tournament?
I represent the Olympic spirit! To be there is everything. We are happy that the Pro Club is slowly getting a bigger stage and that we as a traditional club can make a small contribution.
Thank you very much Gregor for taking the time. Enjoy the tournament and good luck!
