RBLZ Umut becomes efootballer of the year 2020

Umut 'RBLZ_UMUT' Gültekin is the new eFootballer of the year, awarded by Kicker presented by BenQ MOBIUZ. The eSportsman from RB Leipzig received almost half of the votes in the election. A total of 20,000 users cast their ballots.

The 18-year-old first attracted a lot of attention with FIFA 2020, and he even managed to score successes at major international tournaments. His supposed most significant victory was second place at a FUT Champions Cup with prize money of 35.000$. Thus, he also increased from month to month in the world ranking of Playstation players. At the end of the season, Umut was the best German Playstation player. He signed his first eSports contract in 2019 with the eSports department of HSV. Since the summer of 2020, he has been under contract with RB Leipzig and excels, especially in the VBL Club Championship.

"BenQ sends best congratulations to Umut 'RBLZ_UMUT' Gültekin, the eFootballer of the year 2020, an outstanding achievement. The fact that kicker is presenting this award for the third time not only shows how well the award has established itself but also underlines how much eSports have gained in importance among clubs," commented Guido Forsthövel, Head of B2C at sponsor BenQ Germany, on Umut's success.

The shortlist for Germany's eFootballer of the Year also included VBL winner Yannic 'Yannic0109' Bederke, Dylan 'DullenMIKE' Neuhausen, Niklas 'NRaseck' Raseck and Eleftherios 'Lefti' Ilias. Previously, the community voted for Danny 'Proownez' Liepolt in 2018 and Mohammed 'MoAuba' Harkous in 2019.

With this, Gültekin follows in the footsteps of last year's FIFA WORLD CUP winner, whether he can achieve the same success remains to be seen. We are curious!
