Notes from the 4th Matchday of the Virtual Bundesliga

The fourth matchday of the VBL season 2020/21 is history, and some patterns are already visible. Especially the difference between the North-West and South-East division is remarkable. But also title favourite SV Werder Bremen stands out.

Before the season, the title favourites were clear in both divisions. In the North-West, Werder Bremen was rated as the team with the best chances for the title and the South-East RB Leipzig. While everything is going according to plan for the Red Bulls, Werder Bremen has so far disappointed. RB was able to achieve two clear victories last week, Werder will have to be content with point divisions against Hanover and Kiel's outsiders.

Double Weakness all over the League

Especially in the doubles matches, the Bremen team reveals unexpected weaknesses. While star player Michael "MegaBit" Bittner performs strongly in the singles and has already won three games, the Bremen team is still without a win in the doubles.

But the Bremen team is not alone with the problems in the doubles. Only the Dou Deniel 'Denii10' Mutic and Serhat 'Serhatinho' Öztürk from 1.FC Heidenheim managed two victories in doubles. In the competition, consistency in doubles is not yet available. This is also the case with FC ST. Pauli. After the duo Erol Bernhardt and Tom Köst had surprisingly beaten Bremen and Leverkusen's favourites, they suffered an apparent defeat against the much weaker Team from VfL Bochum.

Different situation in the two divisions

In the two divisions, a different constellation can be seen after four match days. In the north-west, it seems as if everyone could beat anyone. Thus, a narrow table can be seen. There are only 6 points between places one and eight. Whereby five more teams can follow from the lower ranks due to great matches.

The table in the south-east is entirely different. Here a leading duo has set itself apart. RB Leipzig, SpVgg Greuther Fürth and 1 FC Heidenheim are at the top of the table with a clear lead. Already 5 points behind them, SV Darmstadt 98 is coming 4th in the table.
