EA rejects criticism from Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Following the harsh criticism from star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the company will comment on Monday. The eccentric striker from AC Milan had sharply criticised EA for making money with him for years without his permission. The game developer rejects the criticism and considers FIFPro responsible.

The popular game developers explained to Forbes that the discussion about licenses and social media channels is not an issue for them. According to EA Sports, FIFPro and the players' association are responsible for this. Furthermore, EA announced that FIFPro will publish a statement soon.

On Monday, Zlatan Ibrahimovic had voiced explicit criticism of EA Sports and FIFPro via Twitter. He referred to his rights. He was supported by his consultant Mino Raiola and Tottenham star Gareth Bale.

For EA SPORTS, the newly arisen question about the licenses is an existential matter. In contrast to its competitor PES, the FIFA series can show the licences of most teams. For many fans of the game, it is of particular importance to be able to choose their favourite team in the game. This is a clear buying argument for most gamers. If this advantage is lost and FIFPro no longer grants the rights as a complete package, EA SPORTS competitor Konami has a unique opportunity to take over the leading position in the market from the FIFA series. Or EA Sports would have to invest much more money in licences.
